In its submission, Starlink said forcing artificial scarcity through a mobile auction design would impact affordability of broadband from space services delivered via non-geostationary satellite orbit (NGSO) or low-earth orbit (LEO) satellite systems.
This is the first time that the likes of Starlink and Amazon are commenting on the satellite allotment issue, having earlier expressed their views through industry lobby groups. It will then make recommendations, based on which the telecom department will take a final call.
Trai will shortly hold open house sessions on the issue.
